In our “Very Verona R&J," we developed our own exuberant, queer and uniquely Italian take on this oft repeated tale. We wanted to directly addresses issues of societal fracture and communal grief. In particular, this play explores the transformative effect that tragedy has on the life of a small town. In our production we examined the roles of miscommunication and liability within Verona’s three most prominent families. Our production asked: who cleans up the mess made by brawling love and loving hate?
